Sewing stopped-office started

To everyone who has been following my blog (i.e.-life), my sewing is coming to a short halt. I looked at office space this afternoon and have probably found what I've been looking for for my new office. It's time for me to spread my wings and fly. Now is the part I'm not good at- waiting. Negotiations are going on and drawings of the new space are getting started. If you know of anyone needing a really good dentist who can do sedation, send them my way:) (please) The thought of having more debt scares me. I'm one of these people that likes to watch the money in the bank grow. But, in order to save for retirement and develop my practice, I must go out on my own.

With that being said, the sewing money is drying up. Good thing I've built the stash. I plan on taking the machine to the new office and working on projects until patients arrive. Honestly, I hope I don't have much time to sew during the day.

Tired Dogs

As promised, I've included pictures of the tired dogs who have been running with me and the new holster. My reviews- it's heavy but holds everything I need. I've attached Chloe, the Red & White Irish Setter and Truman (aka- Trumey), the Black Lab at one time. It worked really well. What do you think?

I've been busy cleaning up the extra dog hair since Chloe has been hosting her "friends" for what I jokingly call "Chloe Camp". It's taken me all day to clean- yuck! Now I'm going to go to the store since we're having a small party tonight. Looks like we'll have that wonderful Sockeye from Costco:)

Jalie Faux Wrap Top

(copied from review on PR but extra photos and details added here)

Fabric: Polyester Knit with metallic thread
Pattern Description: Women's knit tops with forward shoulder seam, banded surplice neckline, sleeveless or with 3/4 sleeve.View A has a
neckband that goes all around and View B has a mandarin collar and banded front neckline.

Pattern Sizing:2-32 Children's-Misses

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes except for my modifications.

Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn't look at them- this pattern is intuitive.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Simple and fits well.

Fabric Used:Polyester knit with a silver thread.

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: To finish off the front cross-over and the armholes, I used stretch piping from Zoelees Fabric.

Since it is sheer, I used Illusion to line the front sections only.

Inside- I added bias tape to finish the back neck edge and shoulder seams so they wouldn't stretch.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I've already planned my next top from this pattern.

Conclusion: Great pattern and a fun going-out top. I can't wait to get a good tan and wear this with a pair of white pants for summer. Love this pattern- great for beginners and those wanting to expand their creativity.

More pattern info:
This is where I stretched the front segments and added the piping.

The piping on the armhole is stretched less than the front and crossed over to finish. The seam is serged and topstitched. I stretched it to topstitch to prevent popped stitches.

Rat Bast--d tooth

Today I extracted the worst tooth ever! It has now topped my "Top 10 worst teeth" list. Honestly, I had the other 2 wisdom teeth out in less than 2 minutes but this other impacted, rotated, tipped and curved root tooth took me 2 hours. Yep, you read that right. He is a friend of mine and did such a great job. He'll be the first person who swells after I took a tooth out. Lucky guy, he got the first of a couple of things today. I did see he was posting on Facebook afterwards- might be the narcotics I gave him;)

Off to sew some more. The Juki is in customs and we don't know how long it will be there. They must be checking to see if it's actually going to explode when the American's use it. More red tape for my poor machine to make it to it's home. Still looking for an asian name to call her. Suggestions?

Run with your Dog

I got this cool and kinda heavy (hmm) belt to run with Chloe hands-free. It's from Cardio Canine. I'm going to try it out this morning! It even came with it's own little water bottle. Chloe promptly stuck her nose in the box and was disinterested. I guess she figures it's a leash for her- she would prefer to be FREE (insert verse from "Born Free"). I'll keep you informed on how it worked and maybe even enclose a picture of the tired dog;)

Sewing stuff- I traced the BWOF dress from the July 2009 issue and am going to get coordinating jersey knit today. I have to hem the skirts I've been working on and get some more stretch piping from Zoelees and my UFO will be done. Since it's going to be almost 100 this weekend and Lance is out golfing, I plan on doing some sewing and sunning. More later today since I have the day off- can't believe it's almost the weekend again...

Fabric finds this weekend

Happy Independence Day America! In order to celebrate, I went back home and did some shopping with my mom. We went to Vu's Fabric in Edmond, OK. Talk about an interesting place. She has fabric stacked to the ceiling with no hopes of me seeing everything. The trims are to die for and come in every style and color imaginable. Here are a few of the things I found that might be finding a place in the house or on me!

The fabric that is black and white zebra is the exact same fabric I got from EOS last year. Who knew it was upholstery fabric- the plan for this one is a trench coat. The vinyl is just a swatch but I'm going to see how it looks in the house. I figure it might be nice to cover the ottoman with and make it much more durable. (just a thought) And the other animal print, I just liked the fabric so I got a swatch. Who knows, maybe I'll find an appropriate use for it. Can you ever have enough animal print?! YES!!!

This animal fur looks real and feels so soft. I still can't believe it's fake. I got enough for a vest and a small pillow- nothing like matching your accents;)
